"Stay happy and you'll be perfectly fine" - Jack Norris

Energy in the system

Hello Friends,

It was raining steadily as Saturday morning opened play, so no pictures from me for now. As the chart above shows, we had 2 metres of 9-second-ish straight south swell coming our way as of 0700. By 0830 when I started writing this, the wind was WSW at 10-15 kts and tide had just peaked at 1.35 m. It’ll run out to a 0.59 m low at 1350. From a glance at the cams, swell looks to be producing knee- to occasionally waist-high waves at the better exposures. The Bureau says it’ll start coming up a little around midday. The energy and the rainĀ  look like sticking around into Sunday, and there may even be a few grovel-able lumps for Monday morning. But after that… we could be headed into an extended period of tiny to flat conditions for as far out as the GFS swell model predicts (to 1 July). On the plus side, Beachwatch says the water’s clean and 19 C – which is three degrees warmer than today’s expected high.

Go well!

Weather Situation

A trough will move north along the coast over the weekend bringing a surge of southerly winds to central and northern waters. Behind this, a ridge of high pressure strengthens over the coast and moves over the Tasman Sea early next week.
