South magnets the only hope

Hello Friends,

Mostly clear skies as Monday got into gear along the beaches. Wind was out of the WNW at 12-15 kts at 0730 and the 9 second period swell at sea was clocking in at 1.4 metres from the SSE Your only hope of a wave will be at stretches with good exposure to the south where for the most part you can expect knee to waist with the odd chest-ish bomb. At report writing time, the tide was coming into a modest 1.37 m high at 1000. It’ll be back to low at 1530.

The swell models bring us no joy this morning. The GFS prediction shows swell periods mostly bumbling around in the gutless 6-8 second range for the next 7 days. Swell heights are predicted to be under to well-under a metre across the period as well.

Weather Situation

A high pressure system lies over western New South Wales today while a weakening low remains centred over the Tasman Sea, directing generally southerly winds along the coast. Winds will ease today as the high drifts across the coast, then shift northwesterly during Tuesday as a series of troughs approach from the west. This pattern will a bring fresh westerly change to southern and central waters later Tuesday or early Wednesday, moving to the northern coast as a southerly change on Thursday before weakening.
